a little chat about perfection...

Lets talk about perfection.... this sculpture by Mark Newman is absolutely EVERYTHING. i adore the two different head sculpts, the detail in the hair, and especially the seam details on her costume. i always love when artists note those kind of tiiiiny things that make an image or a sculpture seem more realistic. in my next life i think i want to be this....or a cat. it would be awesome to come back as a cat.

Enough about that, lets now take the time to appreciate this sculpture from every possible angle!

Typhoonicorn Rainbow Attack Plans!!

Part I: Backstory....

...a Goal. a dream...some might even go as far to say "obsession". you know what? whatever.

lets be honest: its taken me years to get to this point, but anyone who knows me will tell you straight away that i WANT to be storm. or rather, as close as i can be.

Project perfect storm started out as most great things do: a joke. something i could use as a hashtag on instagram but after a while i thought: "why not just do that?" I've been a drag performer for years now and a total nerd my entire life. Storm was the first non-my Little Pony i ever drew. that first drawing, done entirely in rich full crayola, was meticulously cut out of the 99 cent poster board and heavily scotch taped to my bedroom wall for at least a decade. i honestly dont even remember ever taking it down.

She's the reason i got into comics to begin with and the reason i started doing drag. then at 19, after finding my first pair of lightning bolt earrings, she became the reason i pierced my ears. Most drag performers look to idolize Cher, Madonna, Britney, Beyonce...those kinds of people. I only ever wanted to be a superhero. In my "career" i've definitely done my fair share of cosplay inspired looks--storm being the majority of them-- but now i want to actually make LEGIT costumes that werent frankensteined out of old lingere, but intended to be storm from start to finish. I want to craft every costume storm has ever worn, perform in them, and take them to as many cons as i can! I want to be known as the premiere Storm cosplayer slash cross-dresser.......

Part II: Whatcha Doin?

Overall my goal is to become queen of all nerds. As well as to become synonymous with the character i've idolized since i was 9 years old.

SO. thats where YOU come in....

As opposed to starting a kickstarter and panhandling the internet--i've decided to set up an online store: PerfectStorm.storenvy.com where i am selling prints of the work i've done with talented photographers as well as (eventually) original art by me. Also, theres a donate button to the right where you're more than welcome to donate as much or as little as you'd like to help me get going!

honestly my personal goal for sales isnt like Suuuper high i dont need a million dollars. i'm not trying to make a movie (though am not opposed to that idea).

Part III: What Had Happened Was...

Basically: the cost of living occasionally overwhelms me. My drag wardrobe was gathered piece by tiiiiny piece over the course of ten or so years. and whereas i could SLOWLY painstakingly aquire piece by piece for this mission, i'd really love some help to get it done in a timely fashion. Especially in time for Dragon*Con 2014. But with the myriad of bills i've some how ended up with and time constraining engagements, theres really no way i can get things together while also being able to feed my obese cat without help from viewers like you.

My first goal is to recreate one of Storm's most iconic costumes:

My Purrsonal favorite and the look she wore when i first discovered her. Its seriously been a dream of mine to make this costume. and once its done i cant guarantee i wont wear it every day just in case sententials start attacking down-town.

Part IV: In conclusion

SO now you have my plan and a little backstory. honestly i'd be x-ternally grateful for any help i can get with this project. i know its not curing cancer or creating world peace, but i still think its a worthy cause! Weather* you donate or purchase anything from the store, thanks for reading! this Blog will now serve as a progress journal. i'll be updating with photos, sketches, and pieces of progress as time goes on. AND starting July 23rd, i'll be gabbing incessantly about Storm's new ongoing series! which i'm stupid X-cited for!

Stay tuned, True Believers!
